Updated In April, 2021 - I came across some important ISPT news today. There are still many unanswered questions about the International Stadium Poker Tour event taking place in England next year but I have some basic information about how to qualify for the ISPT, the ISPT tournament format, the duration of the 2013 London ISPTevent and some background information on the founders of the International Stadium Poker Tour. The cost to enter the ISPT is still up for debate but I have an educated guess based on the facts.
It looks like players cannot directly buy in to the ISPT event being held in London. You have to qualify through one of the ISPT's partners. These partners will include poker sites, casinos and other online gaming organizations. The ISPT will start selecting partners in December, 2013. The initial round of qualifications will start in January, 2013. I wrote a guide on how to play in the ISPT poker tournament that you should check out.
Each player competing in the ISPT will be issued an electric pad that utilizes a custom-made software. Players will use this PC tablets to play in the tournament from their seats in the stadium's stands. In the second phase of the tournament the top 3,000 players will be moved to live poker tables on the field. The players still in the stands will continue to play on the poker tournament pads. Once they are down to 10 players they will start the 2013 ISPT final table.
I'm assuming that the ISPT is setting it up so that once the $30,000,000 prize pool is reached no more registrations will be accepted. Here are the payouts for the London ISPT event:
First place: $10,000,000
2nd-10th: These players will be paid $7,500,000. The exact payout structure has not been announced.
11th-????: The rest of the players will be competing for $12,500,000. Once again, the exact payout structure for the ISPT has not been announced. I would imagine that it will be comparable to the other major poker tournaments like the WSOP.
The $10 million dollar first place prize at the London ISPT event is over $1,000,000 higher than the first place prize for the 2010 WSOP Main Event.
The first International Stadiums Poker Tour will last for 5 consecutive days. The exact start date for the ISPT will be announced in November, 2013. The ISPT is hoping for the first week of September, 2013, but it will definitely be between August 15th and October 9th, 2013.

Many people have asked me what the ISPT buyin will be. The International Stadium Poker Tour has not officially announced the buyin but they have announced how large the base prize pool will be and how many players they expect to play. Since the 2013 ISPT event is being held in England's largest stadium there will be a massive number of entries. The President of the ISPT, Laurent Tapie, is expecting between 20,000 and 30,000 players to compete in the first annual ISPT tournament. To simplify things we will just assume 25,000 players. The prize pool is guaranteed to be at least $30 million dollars. From here it is simple math to figure out what the 2013 ISPT buy in will be:
$30,0000,000 / 25,000 = $1,200 ISPT buyin
If 20,000 players signup and play in the ISPT the estimated buy-in will be $1,500. If 30,000 players compete the estimated buy-in will be $1,000.
The ISPT has three main founders. One of the founders is the new owner of Full Tilt Poker, which is no coincidence. Here are the details about the owners of the ISPT.
Laurent Tapie (President) – Laurent is the son of billionaire Bernard Tapie, the new owner of Full Tilt Poker.
Bernard Tapie – The investor that recently bought Fulltilt Poker and has promised to pay back every player.
Prosper Masquelier (Director) – Prosper once starred in the reality based TV show Nice People. He created the first French TV show about poker: Le Tournoi des As.
Laurent and Prosper are 36 and 30, respectively. They are young, filthy rich and love poker. I think that is exactly what the poker industry needs right now. Bernard is a genius in the business world and is also quite the adventurer. He set a world record by sailing his private boat, the largest in the world, across the Atlantic. He was a billionaire by age 40 and he still looks like a young guy. I think that the Tapies will do an excellent job running the ISPT and turning the poker room Full Tilt Poker around.
I really hope that they fire every incompetent and corrupt member of their affiliate staff.
