February, 2012 - American citizens are not allowed to play poker at Pokerstars. They hope to return to the U.S. market as soon as possible but until the U.S.A regulates online poker they will not allow Americans at their poker room. Even with the loss of their players from the United States Pokerstars is still the largest online poker site and they continue to grow at a fast pace. New U.S. poker sites have been popping up lately and I finally found a couple of exceptional rooms to tell you about.
All In Poker - Allin Poker is part of an older US poker network (Cake) but they are nothing like the standard quo on this network. This new poker site has actually caused the network to grow more in the last few months than they did over the 5 previous years. All In Poker isn't "part" of the Cake Network, they dominate the network. I have been able to negotiate a special bonus deal with All-in Poker. Instead of the stanard $600 bonus I am offering you a 110% match bonus up to $1,000, I will also send you a ticket to my private $500 tournament and give you 5 Gold Chips. The tournament ticket and the Gold Chips have a combined value of over $25. Read our Allin Poker review to learn more about this new poker site. If you have read enough simply click on this link to visit Allin Poker and signup (no bonus code needed).
Updated In February, 2012 - In 2012 Pokerstars is the king of online poker. They have went from a small start-up created by a group of online poker players to the most massive poker room in the world. With daily traffic ranging from 200,000 to 300,000 Pokerstars easily doubles their closest competitor in size. Every other online poker room and network in the world combined (literally 1,000's of poker rooms) their traffic would be quite a bit less than Pokerstars (including their Italian & French versions). It would take about 10 Party Poker's (the 3rd largest online poker room) to come close to the traffic levels found at Pokerstars. It wasn't through luck that Pokerstars ended up being the most massive and popular poker room on the internet. Here are some reasons why Pokerstars has dominated the industry.

That is just a few of the reasons why Pokerstars is the best poker room for US players and international players alike. Pokerstars offers virtually everything a poker player needs. The only reason to play elsewhere is if you like some of the unique features other US poker rooms offer that Poker Stars does not. Rooms like BetOnline and Allin Poker are large and popular in their own right because they have features that Pokerstars does not. This 2012 Poker Stars review will cover the most important aspects of Pokerstars from an online poker player's point of view.
For many years Pokerstars offered the industries smallest bonus ($50). That really help them back and no one really knows why they would make such a obvious blunder. They have since made up for that mistake by offering a more standard $600 bonus. When you sign up though this site you can receive an even better bonus package. We offer all players who enter our marketing code and bonus code three, 100% bonuses. The maximum is still $600 but having three deposits in which to obtain the largest bonus possible use much more friendly to new online poker players, micro, small and medium stakes players that tend to make deposits ranging from $20 to $200. You will also receive four exclusive tickets to the $100,000 GTD freerolls for new depositing players. There is a 3 step process in claiming this bonus:

It is important that you do not get the marketing code and the bonus code mixed up. The above image is a screenshot of the page where you will enter the Pokerstars signup code PSP11820. The bonus code STARS600 will be entered during the deposit process. Our exclusive 2012 Pokerstars bonus will be credited to your bonus account instantly You can view the status of your bonus by visiting the cashier, a red button on the bottom right of the lobby area. The bonus will be released in $10 increments for every 170 VPP's you earn at the tables.
This is one area where Pokerstars has excelled. Online poker players like variety and they get it at Pokerstars. Most poker rooms are limited to 4-5 card games. Pokerstars offers a 10 unique card games and 7 mixed poker games. When they consider the fact that many of these games can be played in fixed, pot and no limit that adds up to a huge amount of options. Here is a list of the games Pokerstars offers in 2012:

The 2012 Pokerstars VIP program is in a league of it's own. If you took the best rakeback offer and the industries 2nd best VIP program and combined them together they would still look pathetic next to the 6 tier VIP system at Pokerstars. Rakeback is when you get a 20-30% of your rake back at the end of the month. It is a moronic concept that has kept many poker networks from going out of business. It's not because rakeback is such a good promotion, it's because there are many clueless online poker players that simply will not play unless they get rakeback. Its much like when stores have 50% off sales. They usually jack the prices up by 50% before hand so you really are not saving anything yet people spend a lot of money because they "think" they are getting such a deal. Rakeback works kid of the same way. It's a marketing ply that works well with stupid people. Pokerstars has a 0 tolerance policy for rakeback and they are larger than every other room combined so that's really all the proof you should need that the VIP program at Poker Stars outclasses pointless rakeback deals. Here is a breakdown of the VIP program at Pokerstars.
Basic Pokerstars VIP Program Overview:
There are two types of points that you earn at Pokerstars, VPP's and FPP's. This can get somewhat confusing to new players. VPP means VIP Player Point and FPP means Frequent Player Point. When you clear your bonus you will be factoring in VPP's. These are basically base points that are not effected by your VIP level. When you first start playing at Pokerstars you will earn 1 FPP for each VPP. Once you move up the VIP system you will start earning more FPP's for each VPP. VIP level multipliers range from 50% to 400%. Basically this means that Silver Star level (level 2, very easy to obtain) players will earn 1.5 FPP's for each VPP. Supernova Elite players will earn 5 FPP's for each VPP. Besides bonuses the only other thing you will use VPP's for is obtaining higher VIP levels.
Pokerstars VIP Program Levels:
There are 6 VIP tiers or levels at Pokerstars. New players will start off at Bronzestar and you will earn a 1:1 VPP/FPP ratio. Even small stakes players will quickly move up to the SilverStar level and start earning 1.5 FPP's for each VPP. To reach this level you only need to earn 750 VPP's. This can be done in a few days at the micro stakes level and one day at the middle stakes level. The next level is GoldStar, this is where most of the micro stakes players level out at. Only 3,000 VPP's are needed and you will be earning 2 FPP's for each VPP. Recreational players that play at the $.01/.02 to $.10/.25 NL tables or $.02/.04 to $.25/.50 stakes will easily be able to maintain this level.
The next level is PlatinumStar and it offers a 2.5/1 FPP to VPP ratio. Small to middle stakes players that play perhaps a couple days a week will easily be able to maintain this level which requires 7,500 VPPs. The next level is based on your yearly VPP average instead of monthly. Supernova players must earn 3.5 FPP's for each VPP. You'll need to reach 100,000 VPP's in a year to each this level but after that it is relatively easy to maintain by earning 8,333 VPP's per month, only 833 more than PlatinumStar players. The final level is SuperNova Elite and it offers 5 FPP's for each VPP. This level is usually achieved by medium to high stakes players that play on a regular basis and tend to play at 2+ tables at once. 1,000,000 VPP's are needed in a year and around 83,333 VPP's per month to maintain this level.
2012Stellar Rewards At Pokerstars:

The Stellar Rewards promotion is a newer part of the VIP program at Pokerstars. It is my personal favorite as it gives free cash instantly. Basically you will be able to buy instant cash gifts (not bonuses) for the cost of 1 FPP. These gifts range from $10 to $200 and you can buy $1,200 worth every year.
2012 Milestone Cash Credits:

Every Milestone Cash Credit now costs 1 FPP's, a big difference from the 50,000 they charged last year. The credits start off at $2,600 and go all the way up to $20,000. there are a total of 16 cash credits you can buy every year. In total you can buy $136,800 in Milestone Cash Credits per calendar year at Pokerstars. VIP levels play an important factor in this.
2012 Pokerstars VIP Store:
The Poker Stars VIP store has about everything you could imagine. It would be impossible to list everything here and even if the item you want isn't listed you can just write them and they will obtain it for you. They offer everything from decks of cards to computers to luxury cars. Here is a list of the items I have bought in the last year. Please keep in mind that I only play a few days a month with my affiliate revenue. I usually leave a few hundred in my account so I'm not a high stakes player or anything. I'm usually in the Goldstar or PlatinumStar level:
Pokerstars accepts plenty of deposit methods in 2012. Most U.S. players typically either user instant e-checks and credit cards. E-check deposits have a 100% success rate and can be used by anyone with a US checking account. You just input your banks routing number and your account number. Because this is an electronic check they don't take the money out of your bank account right away. Sometimes they can take over a week and others it will only be a couple days so it's important to keep track of these. Credit cards work about 95% of the time. They accept plenty of e-wallets like Skrill but only international players tend to use those.
This is an extremely important detail to online poker players and Pokerstars has not disappointed us. I used to use the e-check cashout option and the money would usually be in my bank 2-3 days later. Sometimes processing times for e-checks can vary a bit so I started using bankwires. I am still am amazed at how fast they are. We are not talking days here, we are talking hours. My last bank wire withdrawal at Pokerstars was approved at 6:00am and was in my bank at 11:00 am on the same day.
The support at Pokerstars has gotten much better. They still only offer email support but you can usually expect a reply in an hour or two. They have a sup;port feature built into the software which makes it much easier than writing them directly because you won't need to verify your account info.
