Updated In January, 2021 - The Poker Stars Platinumstar VIP level is the top tier based on your monthly VPP average. Supernova and Supernova Elite are based on how many VPPs you earn in a year so even the hardcore online poker players will usually spend at least several months in the Platinum Star level. You need to earn 7,500 VPPs per month to stay in this tier. If you can earn an additional 833 VPPs per month you will make it to the Supernova level by the end of the year. I'm typically in this level and really enjoy it. It includes all of the Bronzestar, Silverstar and Goldstar benefits in addition to the numerous things that only Platinum Star players can take advantage of. This guide will cover the basic benefits of the Poker Stars Platinumstar tier as well as answer some of the common questions players ask about it. The Platinum Star VIP level at Poker Stars is the highest you can go based on how many VPPs you earn per month. The next two levels are based on yearly VPPs. If you have made it this far you will end up spending a few months in this level. Most Platinum Star players will eventually move on to the Supernova level. The main question is when? Getting there in 6 months would require around 16,000 VPPs/month. That is over double the 7,500 VPP requirement for this level. If you just meet the minimum every month you will end up with 90,000 at the end of the year which is 10,000 shy of Supernova.
Platinumstar players will receive all of the previous benefits and several unique ones. You'll now be able to buy a $650 VIP Reward Bonus. In 2014 this is not actually a bonus any more. It is a cash credit like the Stellar rewards and the Milestones. You can also buy this as often as you like. Another benefit is that Pokerstars will make it easier for you to satellite your way into the $1,000,000 monthly VIP tournament. Platinum Star players will also be able to claim at least $900 in Stellar Rewards throughout the year. You will also be able to use your surplus FPPs to buy directly into events like the PCA, EPT and NAPT.
Q. I need to earn 1,000-2,000 VPPs within a few days to maintain my Platinumstar level for next month. What is the best option for players who have a limited bankroll?
A. The best strategy for earning VPP's quickly at Pokerstars when you have a limited bankroll and limited time is their turbo sitngos. It is important to note that you have to be a solid sitngo player to do this. If you play in 6 seat $50 turbo sitngos (two at a time) you will need to do this around 4 hours a day for 2 days to earn 2,000 VPPs. Pokerstars will give you 5.5 VPPs for every $1 in buy-in fees so a $50+5 will earn you 27.5 VPPs. For more tips on this subject read our fastest way to earn Pokerstars VPPs strategy guide.
