Updated In May, 2012 - I dream about the Supernova Elite VIP level at Pokerstars. Reaching this level is very hard but it is well worth it. We are talking hundreds of thousands of dollars in benefits. When you first cross over into the Supernova Elite (SNE) level you will receive $20,000 and a $5,200 ticket to the WCOOP Main Event. The $20,000 is actually the first Milestone Cash Credit for SNE players. Back in 2010 these cost 50,000 FPP's but in 2012 they are only 1 FPP. You must earn 1,000,000 VPPs in a year to become a Supernova Elite player at Pokerstars. Even die-hard players who spend 20 hours per week playing at 5+ tables at once have trouble reaching this VIP tier before November or December. Poker Stars gives Supernova Elite players a 2 month grace period in the following year and maintaining this status only requires about 70% of the effort it took to achieve it to begin with. becoming a SNE member at Pokerstars is tough but maintaining it is much easier and but you still get to enjoy all of the benefits. I will go into that in more detail later in this guide to the Supernova Elite VIP level at Poker Stars. Don't forget to read our other Poker Stars VIP program guides:

The first thing all new Supernova Elite members do in 2012 is buy a $20,000 Milestone cash credit for 1 FPP. You've had a long hard road so take that money and go on a vacation. You actually do not have to start earning VPPs to maintain your SNE status until March of the following year. You are obviously a degenerate gambler (j/k) so you will want to take advantage of all of the benefits Supernova Elite players get at Poker Stars in 2012. You are now earning 5 FPPs for every VPP, a 500% increase from when you were a Bronzestar player. You also probably have your eyes on the other $93,600 in Milestone cash credits, which isn't counting the $20k you just bought! You will also receive free entry to the 2012 WCOOP Main Event which has a buy-in of $5,200.
To claim all 10 Milestone cash credits the Supernova Elite status has to offer you will need to earn 3,000,000 VPPs. If you do you will have earned 10,000,000 FPP's from the time you earned SNE status to when you buy the last $19,200 Milestone cash credit. You could use them to buy 40, $4,000 VIP Reward bonuses which adds up to $160,000. In 2012 these bonuses are instant cash credits that do not need to be cleared.
Another option would be buy in seat packages at every major live poker tournament and traveling the world in order to play in them. Pokerstars gives Supernova Elite members huge discounts on major live events so you could nearly play in every single main event of the year and still have enough FPP's left over to buy your woman a new Porsche for 3,000,000 FPP's. The point that I am trying to make is that as a Supernova Elite status holder the possibilities are virtually endless.
It doesn't matter when you become a Supernova Elite player, Poker Stars is going to give you some free time to sit back and enjoy the benefits. Even if you earn your one millionth VPP on New years Eve you will have until the end of February to enjoy the perks without worrying about maintaining your SNE status. Once March 1st rolls around you will need to start playing in order to retain your Supernova Elite VIP level at Pokerstars. To get this far you needed to earn 83,333 VPP's per month (average) to earn 1,000,000 VPP's in a year. To maintain the status all you need to do is earn 50,000 VPP's per month. That means it will be around 30% easier to retain SNE than it was to earn it. With all of the cash Pokerstars throws at Supernova Elite players I highly doubt anyone will have trouble becoming a SNE for life. Pokerstars even gives you one free month per year to NOT meet the 50k VPP requirement. It's like a "Get out of jail free" card that can be used for when you need a break from poker.
Q. How many VPP's must I earn per month in order to become a Supernova Elite player by a certain date?
A. I've done the math and created a chart for you. I have listed the average number of VPPs you need to earn in order to become a Supernova Elite player by the end of the listed month. I doubt anyone can earn 1,000,000 VPPs in two months so I started it our in March:
| Reach Supernova By: | VPP's/Month |
|---|---|
| March, 2012 | 333,333 |
| April, 2012 | 250,000 |
| May, 2012 | 200,000 |
| June, 2012 | 166,666 |
| July, 2012 | 142,855 |
| August, 2012 | 125,000 |
| September, 2012 | 111,111 |
| October, 2012 | 100,000 |
| November, 2012 | 90,090 |
| December, 2012 | 80,333 |
